FLASS colleagues receive Awards for Excellent FE Supervision
Field experience (FE) plays a central role in polishing our future teachers. At EdUHK, the School Partnership and Field Experience Office (SPFEO) supports, coordinates and strengthens field experience projects for students studying various education programmes. Academic staff from different departments support these field experience projects by providing to-be-teachers with expert guidance, for their teaching practices in primary and secondary schools. In these practicums, future teachers have the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge acquired at EdUHK in a real-life classroom.
To acknowledge the contribution of academic staff who act as FE supervisors in supporting students in their teaching practices and to develop a good FE ePortfolio for reflective learning, the “FE Supervision Appreciation Scheme - Award for Excellent FE Supervision” has been organised and launched by School Partnership and Field Experience Office (SPFEO) and Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC).
In Semester II of 2021/22, a total of 22 nominations were received university-wide for the award. A Judging Panel comprising Director of SPFE, Director of LTTC and School Partnership Advisors was formed to select the final 18 awardees according to a set of comprehensive assessment criteria. Among them, three awardees were from FLASS: Dr Cheang Chi-chiu, Associate Professor, Department of Science and Environmental Studies; Dr Vincent Cheng Wan-suen, Lecturer I, Department of Social Sciences; and Dr Deng Wenjing, Associate Professor, Department of Science and Environmental Studies.
We congratulate our FLASS colleagues for receiving the award. Their expert advice has guided students in field practices where they gained a deeper understanding about academic theories, learnt how to integrate knowledge of different fields in their teaching, and polished their teaching skills.
